Carlene M. Atwell (née Schaefer) entered into eternal life on February 9, 2025. Born on September 16, 1942, Carlene was a woman of deep and abiding faith, dedicating her life to prayer and devotion. She held a profound love for Our Blessed Mother, faithfully reciting the rosary each day and offering prayers for all who sought her intercession. Her kindness and acceptance knew no bounds, as she welcomed others without judgment and stood as a true ally to those in need.
A gifted craftswoman, Carlene found joy in creating intricate crochet and embroidery pieces. Her handiwork was more than just a hobby—it was an expression of love, as she shared her creations with family and friends, bringing warmth and happiness to those around her.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Philip; her daughter, Phyllis (Edward) Perkins; and her beloved grandchildren, Robert and Matthew. She now rejoins in heaven her granddaughter, Samantha; her parents, Eva and Fred; twelve siblings; and her faithful dog, Fred.
A celebration of Carlene’s life will be honored with Memorial Mass at St. Lucy Church in St. Clair Shores on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10 o’clock in the morning. Interment will be held at a later date and will be immediate family only.
Carlene’s unwavering faith, love, and generosity touched many lives. May her memory bring comfort to those who mourn her passing and serve as a testament to the power of faith and kindness.
