
Devoted Wife, Loving Mother, Cherished Grandmother, and Faithful Servant of God
It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of Providencia Gonzalez, of Ponce, Puerto Rico, who entered eternal rest surrounded by her loving family.
Provi was a woman of strength, grace, and unwavering faith. She was the beloved wife of Ismael (Izzy) Gonzalez, with whom she shared over 40 blessed years of marriage – a partnership rooted in love, devotion, and trust in God. Together, they raised three children: Noelia, Iran (Mariana), and Ricardo (Paulette), each of whom carry forward her legacy of love, humility, and compassion.
She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Ricardo Jr., Lauren, Julian, Alexander (AJ), Julian Alexander, and Arianna. Her grandchildren brought her boundless joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Provi is survived by her loving brothers, Louis Rivera and Fernando Rivera, and was preceded in death by her dear sisters, Felicita Bonparte and Tomasita Romero, with whom she shared a lifelong bond. She also leaves behind countless nieces and nephews, all of whom were touched by her love, wisdom, and warmth.
A devout Catholic, Provi had a deep devotion to the Sacred Heart of Mary, and she lived each day guided by faith, prayer, and a generous heart. Her spiritual strength uplifted those around her and was the foundation of her family’s strong values.
Provi will be remembered for her gentle spirit, steadfast faith, and unconditional love for her family. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her legacy will continue to shine brightly through all who were blessed to know her.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
A viewing and Mass will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Saint Helena’s Catholic Church, 6161 N 5th St, Philadelphia, PA 19120.
The viewing will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
