Eleanor Kuntz (Reavey)

Eleanor was a beloved mother and mommom. She was the biological daughter of Irish immigrants from Co. Mayo, adopted by a Scottish couple, John and Nellie Reavey, and grew up in Kensington, Phila. She met her husband, William Kuntz, at a dance social for soldiers. Thankfully, William returned from WWII and asked Eleanor to be his wife. William relocated from North Dakota to Kensington, Phila and the two wed in 1946. Together, they raised 4 children: Elizabeth (Chuck) , Kathleen (Harry), William and Mary Ann (Harry).

Eleanor unfortunately lost her husband in 1992 to lung cancer, but continued the legacy of their love, welcoming 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Eleanor was an adored member of her community, working as as a teachers aide and local mother to all. Well known among her neighbors for sitting on her porch and taking in stray animals. She was an accomplished baker and a lover of house plants. Shortly after William’s death, Eleanor moved in with her daughter Kathleen in NE Philadelphia. Eventually, Eleanor moved back to the city in Fishtown, where she lived independently before finally moving to Paul’s Run Retirement Community. She passed peacefully in her sleep, in the early morning hours of April 2, 2025, just over 3 months shy of her 99th birthday.
