  1. Dear all of Mary’s family and friends,
I wish I could be there with you celebrating the amazing life of Mary McGee. She was one of the most incredible women I have ever known. Mary had a love of life that was contagious when you were around her. She went at life on all cylinders! She loved being a Marine and stayed active as a Marine her entire life and I got to be a part of that amazing world when she made me a Marine Auxiliary. I got to meet all her Marine friends. I went to their parties and celebrations and was so blessed to be with all these wonderful women. Mary was truly a self-made woman. I got to spend so much wonderful time with her and I still cherish that time. I have missed her dearly the last few years. We would talk on the phone and share our lives. My niece would visit me when I lived next door to Mary and Mary was her “Minnesota grandma”. I knew all of Mary’s family from her love of them and how much she cherished all of them. Even though I cannot be there physically to celebrate the life of the amazing Mary, I will be there in spirit. I know she will still be the glue of your family and will be sending light down on all of you.

Mary was always Aunt Mary to me, and more importantly she was my godmother. Mary was the most fun loving godmother I could have asked for. She never forgot to send a card or gift on the holidays, she was so thoughtful and caring. I remember playing with Mary at her desk in my Dads office, she always was silly and fun to be with. Mary always wore the most fun earrings a girl could ask for! As I got older I loved picking up Mary for lunch and going to one of her favorite places Psycho Susie’s, and I would often bring my grandmother Anna with who loved Mary and her company. Mary had THE BEST Christmas decorations of all time! A child’s dream… Although I haven’t seen Mary since she moved back east she has always been in my heart. Rest in Peace Aunt Mary, I will never forget your laugh and constant smile. My condolences to the family. Love Anne

Hi Anne, I’m Aunt Mary’s oldest nephew. My brother, Mike Griggs, is also one of her godchildren. My sister, Nancy, and I visited Aunt Mary in 2007 and we also had a stop at Psycho Suzie’s. My email address is rjg121@gmail.com. If you want to, send me an email. I’ll send you a copy of a photo from my 2015 wedding with Aunt Mary and the other Marines who attended the wedding. I have some other photos that might be of interest to you as well. Bob Griggs
