Marianne Patricia Schmid Doyle

Marianne Patricia Schmid Doyle, 74, passed away peacefully at home on December 24, 2021 so she could finally spend Christmas with her sons.

Born on May 13, 1947, Marianne was adopted by her loving parents, Mary “Molly” and John Schmid.

She is survived by her daughter, Molly Doyle Vandiver, son-in-law, Emory Vandiver, 2 beloved granddaughters, Marissa and Faith, grand dog, Layla, newly found sister, Donna Reeser, and true lifelong friends who are like family to her: Patricia and Gary Horter, Loretta Riotto, Jimmy and Dolly Wrenn, Janis Perna, Mary Ellen Weinstein and Joseph Mackley Sr. She is predeceased by her beloved sons, Sean and Patrick, husband, William Doyle, parents, dear friend, Jerry Riotto, and pets: Queenie, Maggie, Penny, and Kitty-Kitty.

Marianne was proudly born and raised in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. She attended Saint Hugh Catholic elementary school and Little Flower High School. She worked as a Philadelphia crossing guard while her children were young. She then enjoyed a career in medical records at Jefferson Main Line Health and ultimately landed in the insurance field at USLI Insurance.

Marianne was a lover of the water, politics, Zorro, Halloween, and all animals. She enjoyed singing, swimming, watching movies, and playing games with her granddaughters as well as reminiscing and laughing with her friends and family. She was a smart, funny, generous, and fiercely loyal woman with an incredible memory, a tough exterior and a soft heart. She will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of truly knowing and loving her.

All are invited to her visitation on Tuesday, January 4, 2021 at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 AM. Both will be held at Saint Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maple Glen, PA. Interment to be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marianne’s memory to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children of Philadelphia.

So very sorry for your loss. In the few times I had the opportunity to speak with Marianne, she was a kind and caring person who I looked forward to getting to know better. Your family is in our prayers.

To family and friends of Marianne, I am so very sorry for your loss. I met her when I came to St. Hugh in 8th grade. We were not friends that hung out but she was very kind to me being the new kid. Later met her again on Facebook.. I know just from that that she was a kind generous and a loving friend to animals. May she RIP with the Lord..

Hello my Dear Friend of 64 years,
We all can surmise who greeted you at the Pearly Gates, and be quite accurate in doing so; but let’s not forget the woman who was so instrumental in your early life, Sister Rose. Between you and she and all the Melodious Choir, you must have been able to accentuate the celebration of the most awesome Midnight Mass in Heaven, of which even Father Mooney would be proud.
Twenty twenty one was a terrible year for many; it did not escape the Doyle and Vandiver Families. They lost their Dad/PopPop on April 25, their Uncle Jerry, and now their Mom/Grammy on
December 24. Mar’s Granddaughters decorated her home beautifully in preparation of the Homecoming that took place just one week ago. They, Faith and Marissa, were the Sweetest Angels to be presented to Marianne and Billy since their own three, Sean, Patrick, and Molly. All five brought more joy into their hearts and lives than anyone would be able to express.
We feel that through all the prayers, love and support of all their family and friends, who have been by their sides through these many years, they have each reached their eternal goal of being in Heaven with The Blessed Trinity, all the Angels and the Saints, The Holy Family and all the dear family they were lent here on earth. Personally I’m happy they can understand all the Sacred Mysteries at long last. Bye for now Our Dear, Sweet Family until we meet again. We’ll be in touch! Love you 💞 🌈 🥲 💝

Dear Molly I am so sorry for your loss along with the girls too. It’s hard to loose one parent but two is really hard. At least you know she is at home with your Dad and your brothers. Love Aunt Patsy

  5. You will be missed so very much, my dear life long friend. Our lives have intermingled in so many of the chapters of our lives, which span over 65 years. There will be no more “remember when….” dialogue between us again. Those were some of the best times of our lives. I will think of you often, and miss you everyday. Rest in peace with the Lord Who has brought you home to your forever happiness.

  6. My condolences to you and you family, Molly. You are in my thoughts and prayers. No words can make you feel better, but please know I’m here if you need anything.
    Much love,
    Bao
